A Laundry Day Becomes Disposal Day!

(For ALL of you fans, who have been begging me to write you all a #LaundryStory and combine it with a #DisposalStory well? Here....THIS one is for YOU!)

A Laundry Day Becomes Disposal Day!

As mother and the laundry maid came into my room that warm September day, they both began gathering up all of my wet cloth diapers, onesies, footed pajamas and all my t-shirts to wash. Then, mommy began to come over to my safety bed, lower the side like it was an adult-sized crib and she began to grab me by my arms, to get me out and onto my feet. I was still wearing my soaking wet, four layers of cloth pre-fold cloth diapers and the pair of printed plastic pants that she had diapered me into the night before.
Tommy: Mommy? How come you are taking me out of my bed? What is Lydia doing with all of NY wet cloth diapers, onesies and footed PJs?
Shelly: It's laundry day son…..and I…..am taking you and all of your dirty things to get ALL nice and cleaned up. Lydia here…..is going to wash you with ALL of your nice, dirty diapers and clothing!
Tommy: But…..I still have my morning wet diapers and plastic pants on!
Shelly: Yeeea….we are going to take care of that for ya.
As Shelly, Tommy's mommy, escorts Tommy with Lydia down the two short flights of stairs from his bedroom down to the dark basement where the large, washing machine was waiting to be filled with his dirty cloth diapers and clothing,  Lydia gathered up the two tall laundry baskets full of Tommy's wet and dirty cloth diapers, onesies, footed pajamas and a few plastic and rubber pants before joining both Shelly and Tommy who were waiting for Lydia to come down and start loading the washer. Lydia comes down the old creeky wooden stairs leading down to the dimly lit basement carrying one tall laundry basket at a time, setting them both down near the front of the washer door. Then Lydia comes over to Tommy, and starts taking off his wet footed pajamas before removing his soaking wet white onesie.
Lydia: Let's get you out of those awful, soaked PJs and that old soaked onesie….shall we? (Once the soaked PJs were off and the onesie was also off) ahhh! That must feel better…huh? OK…let’s get you out of those dirty plastic pants too while we are at it….OK sweetheart?
Tommy: Miss Lydia? Are YOU going to change my wet cloth diapers?
Lydia: No sweetie, I…am going to…..wash you AND all of these…..filthy diapers and clothes.
Tommy: You mean……..I…am……going….in….THERE???
Lydia: Yes honey, you and the diapers you are wearing, the diapers and clothes you see here in these two laundry baskets are…..ALL going in there too, with you!
Tommy: But, but, but……
Lydia: But…nothing…..your mommy wants me to wash you with a load of your dirty diapers so we can try to save some water. Since washing you and your diapers take about the same time, we figured…..why NOT! Now…let me load some of your filthy wet diapers into this nice washer and THEN….I will start loading YOUR filthy, diapered butt…ok?
Tommy: Miss Lydia! How long will it TAKE to do all this?
Lydia: Oh about 20 to 25 minutes. OK.....ready? It's loading time boy!
Lydia picks Tommy up, and then loads him into the large opening of the laundry-mat styled industrial top-loading washer feet first. Once Tommy's lower body was in the washer tub and his legs were wrapped around the agitator, Lydia leaned down close to the tub and lowered Tommy down on top of half the load of slightly moist dirty cloth diapers. Then Lydia leaned up and started to toss in and load the rest of the wet diapers into the washer. Once Lydia finished loading the last few diapers in, she reached down to the floor where the Dreft brand detergent was, picked up the bottle of liquid detergent, removed the cap, then poured some of the Dreft detergent into the cap. Then she reached her hand into the tub and right above the load that was semi covering Tommy and poured the cap's contents into the tub, then she poured a little more into the cap, then she reached into the tub and made sure to pour the liquid detergent all over Tommy's diaper and chest. Then, she put the cap back on, put the bottle down, then picked up a bottle of spray pre-treater and began to liberally spray all of the diapers and Tommy well.
Tommy: blah! Hey! What…..IS that that you are spraying all over me and everything?
Lydia: It's special laundry pre-treater made especially for dirty cloth diapers.
Lydia finishes spraying Tommy and the load and then leans over and puts the spray bottle down. Then, as Lydia started the cycle with Tommy's head stick up above the front-loading washer, she remarked;
Lydia: OK dirty baby boy….it’s……wash time! See ya in 20 to 25 minutes.
Lydia finishes loading the last of the wet diapers into the tub and then she pushes the water temp button and selects “warm” and then she selects “large load” on that selector button before pushing the start button.
Lydia: Time for the dirty boy to get clean with all his filthy dirty diapers!
Lydia stands there, watching the wash-tub fill with warm water and as it gets to just above his shoulders she walks away and waves. As she leaves and heads upstairs and back to Tommy’s room with Tommy's mom, Shelly, to go bag up and take Tommy’s disposable diapers out to the large 300 gallon trash can that was always out by the curb.
Lydia: I hope that Tommy doesn’t need any of these nice, clean, disposable diapers.
Shelly: NOOOO, We are switching over to cloth diapers while at home and disposables while we are out and about. These diapers that I am throwing away, have been in his closet for the last year. He never used more than half of one of these packs before we switched brands. I'm throwing them away because the tapes don’t stick as well anymore.
Lydia: I can see why you’re switching to cloth diapers. It is going to mean that you and I have more laundry to do more often, but…..what are you going to do with some of his diapers that are starting to look tattered and showing some serious wear and tear on them?
Shelly: Well, I will start throwing those away soon after I go out and buy him some new cloth diapers. I am probably going to switch him back to disposables for a little bit until we get the rest of his cloth diapers bought, ya know? So….. he has enough of them. I will replace two diapers at a time, throwing the old diapers away as I go.
